Does anyone know what this book is about, yet?

Over the weekend, independent comic book creator Michael Bancroft launched a crowdfunding campaign for The Lucent: Painted Death,* a 100-page fantasy graphic novel.

The project is already fully funded, having raised more than $30 thousand at the time of this writing (which is approximately $45 thousand in Australian dollar-i-doos).

Written by and illustrated by Bancroft, Painted Death is the follow-up to The Lucent: Waking Dream, which was successfully crowdfunded in 2020. The genre-bending series combines elements of myth, mystery, and suspense, all with a healthy dose of super-powered action-adventure.

Here’s the official pitch taken from the The Lucent website:

PAINTED DEATH is the second book in the mind-bending LUCENT series. This 100-page, full-color mystery jumps off right where WAKING DREAM left us.

After unleashing powers she never knew she had, Ella Forsythe wakes to find herself hunted by the same secret order that killed her parents. But when an enigmatic saviour comes to her aid, she’ll learn that accepting help only means diving even deeper into the perilous world of The Lucent.

Backers can get a digital version of both The Lucent: Waking Dream and Painted Death for $20, while signed physical copies of Painted Death start at $25. If you have more money to spend, you can also receive the following tchotchkes and extras:

• A hardcover edition
• An ashcan-sized preview of The Lucent: Fractured Mind
• T-shirt
• Several puzzles featuring images from The Lucent

It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $15 for those in the United States (shipping from Australia).
