Nox Comics Launches Debut Book “Amarok” on Indiegogo
Are scissors?
On Monday, 18 year-old aspiring comic book creator Joshua Derstine launched a crowdfunding campaign for his debut comic, Amarok.
The project is already fully funded, having raised more than $5 thousand at the time of this writing.
Written and penciled by Derstine and featuring inks by John Livesay, colors by Andrew Dalhouse, and lettering by the prolific Eric Weathers, Amarok is described as “the book of a thousand lines” due to the amount of detail put into the artwork.
Here’s Derstine’s official pitch taken from the Amarok Indiegogo campaign page:
Be the first to experience the debut story from an 18 year old aspiring comic book creator, paired with the best talent the industry has to offer.
I may not have the same experience as a 30-year veteran comic book professional such as David Finch or John Livesay, but what I do have is an unbridled passion and love for telling stories. It is my ultimate goal to start a comic book revolution. Bringing back meticulously detailed art, an outlandishly unique story, and hopefully something that can deeply resonate with readers on a personal level. This book is the first step in that journey!
The Story
An epic legend set in the distant future.
Magic has been industrialized and altered into a synthetic drug that once injected, uniquely affects each user depending on their blood type and DNA makeup, granting a distinctive set of powers and abilities. Explore the journey of a man haunted by the past, and discover what it could mean for his future…
Backers can get a digital version of Amarok for $15, while physical copies start at $25. If you have more cash to spend, you can also receive the following tchotchkes and extras:
- Multiple copies of the book
- Variant covers
- Black and white line art editions
- Head sketches
- Posters
- Original artwork
It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $10 for those in the United States.
