Allumer’s Vertical Shoot ‘Em Up “Zing Zing Zip” Now on PS4, Nintendo Switch via the Arcade Archives
Brought to you by the bottom of every alphabetical arcade game list
Publisher Hamster has announced that Zing Zing Zip is now available on Nintendo Switch and PS4 as part of the digital Arcade Archives series.
Despite having a title that sounds more like modern-day Tumblr pronouns, Zing Zing Zip was originally developed by Allumer and released in Japanese arcades by Tecmo in 1992. This is the first time that Zing Zing Zip is commercially available in the West, as well as the first time it is seeing a home release in any territory.
In Zing Zing Zip, one or two players take flight in a pair of aircraft (one with increased vertical speed and the other with increased horizontal speed) to defeat the USSR the “Evil Empire.” In addition to whichever mobility advantage they choose, players can also make use of multiple power-up items and “rolling special moves” that grant you temporary invincibility or increased attack power.
Like other Arcade Archives titles, players can post their high scores to the online leaderboards and change various game settings to match their own personal skill levels and taste.
Arcade Archives Zing Zing Zip available today for $7.99 via PSN and the Nintendo Switch eShop.
