“Where the hot stays hot, and the cool stays cool.”

Pesto Comics recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for Stay Cool, a 24-page, black and white sci-fi/noir book.

The project is already fully funded, having hit its funding goal with roughly 9 days left in the campaign at the time of this writing.

Written by Adriano Ariganello and featuring illustrations by Rafael Chrestani, Stay Cool is a self-contained, one-shot story (hooray!) about spontaneous combustion… and revenge.

Here’s the official pitch taken from the Stay Cool Kickstarter campaign page:

Ellie has been wanting to investigate the shady operations of the Dolos Corporation as long as she can remember. The day that her wish is granted becomes the worst day of her life as her colleagues and friends begin spontaneously bursting into flames around her.

She doesn’t question who’s behind it.
Before she’d stop at nothing to prove it. Now she’s not worried about proof.

She wants revenge.

It won’t be easy. Nothing comes as a surprise to the nefarious group behind the explosions, who seem to be a step ahead of Ellie as she goes deeper into the inner workings of the Dolos Corporation, losing herself along the way.

What starts as a tale for revenge quickly becomes a struggle to survive.

Backers can get a digital version of Stay Cool for approximately $4 (converted from Canadian Canuck-bucks), while physical copies (along with the digital version) start at approximately $6. If you have more cash to spend, you can also receive the following tchotchkes and extras:

• Multiple copies of the book
• Variant covers
• A cheaper, Tankōbon-sized version (~$5)
• A copy of Unlimited Udo, also featuring art by Chrestani

It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at approximately $4 for those in the United States.
