Obscure Arcade Fighting Game “Blandia” Now on PS4, Nintendo Switch
Publisher Hamster has announced that Blandia is now available on Nintendo Switch and PS4 as part of the digital Arcade Archives series.
Originally released in Japanese arcades by Allumer in 1992, the very poorly titled Blandia failed to make a splash in the crowded pool of its fighting game contemporaries. It was nonetheless ported to the FM Towns and the PC-98 in Japan, but this is the first time that Blandia is seeing an official release in the West.
Players can choose one of six warriors from all across the globe in search of the evil king who has claimed all the world’s treasures as his own. Blandia’s unique gameplay hook comes from each character’s set of armor, which must be chipped away before a fighter will take any damage.
Like other Arcade Archives titles, players can post their high scores to the online leaderboards and change various game settings to match their own personal skill levels and taste.
Arcade Archives Blandia is available today for $7.99 via PSN and the Nintendo Switch eShop.
