Classic Saturn Shooter “Radiant Silvergun” Now on Steam PC

Tokyo-based game developer Live Wire has released Radiant Silvergun for Steam PC.

Originally developed by Treasure and released for arcades and SEGA Saturn in 1998, Radiant Silvergun is a sci-fi shooter that is considered a progenitor of modern “bullet-hell” shoot ‘em ups. This Steam version is a port of the 2011 Xbox Live Arcade version, with a few new features added.

Here’s the official breakdown of the Steam port of Radiant Silvergun from Live Wire:

Set on the earth and in space on July 14, 2520 A.D., the film explores the mystery of mankind’s extinction. Various terrains become battlefields. Enemies attack from all directions. There are 23 bosses in total. Aim for a high score by making full use of score bonuses and level-up weapons!

  • New functions: “CLASSIC MODE” and “MODERN MODE.” The Steam version has a new feature that allows players to choose between CLASSIC MODE, which allows them to enjoy the view angle of the Sega Saturn version, and MODERN MODE, which allows them to enjoy the view angle of the Xbox Live Arcade version. Players can enjoy it in the mode that they are familiar with.
  • Compatible with keyboard operations. In addition to the gamepad operations familiar to home game consoles, the game also supports keyboard operations unique to PCs.

Radiant Silvergun is available now for Steam PC.

It should also be noted that this version is somehow rated “Teen” for fantasy violence, partial nudity and mild blood. The violence and blood? Maybe. But I sure don’t recall anything approaching nudity in the game. Seriously, it’s a space shooter, for crying out loud. It’s fine for kids.
