It’s not a Samson story, either…

Last week, independent comic book creator Adam Lawson launched a crowdfunding campaign for issue one of Jawbone Death, a 28-page supernatural action adventure story with black and white art.

The project is already fully funded, having raised more than $6 thousand at the time of this writing.

Written by Adam Lawson (The Exiled, The Kill Journal) and featuring illustrations by Jason Crager (Hammer, The Kill Journal) , Jawbone Death looks to be a mishmash of Ghost Rider and Lobo.

SO, YOU’RE GOING TO HELL…

What are you going to do about it? Mitch Bernthal is a burned-out enforcer for the Red Animal biker gang. The only things he has to his name are a lifetime of bad choices and knuckles of fuckin’ iron. But there must be some God in heaven because he begins to hear a voice. A voice telling him he’s headed straight for Hell unless he changes his path. So, instead of torturing a snitch like he’s ordered, he guns down his gang boss and sets his world on fire.

Hunted and wounded, he finds himself at the bottom of a ravine where his blood leaks into the soil that is the grave site of the ancient and holy Leviathan Warrior. He needs an avatar in this realm to stop an ancient evil that has been unleashed. The Myth Slayer has been trapped for a thousand years, but his prison the Killing Tree has been cut down and he walks the Earth once more waiting to consume all faiths, all hopes, all beliefs and enslave the world. Mitch may be wretched and broken in both body and soul, but he will have to do.

Mitch pulls the Warrior’s mighty helm and weapon from the dirt. His “blade” of choice is the Jawbone of the ancient biblical monster, The Leviathan, whom the Warrior slew. Mitch may be a criminal and a villain, but he’s given a chance to change that, and, just maybe, he can fix his past and save the future. And even if he can’t save himself, maybe this ancient warrior can heal his ex-wife. Another person whose life he’s ruined. Mitch becomes Jawbone Death, and with new power and a voice in his head, he’s going to rage a war he will most likely lose. But fucking it all up, is what he’s done his whole life.

Jawbone Death is a story of grit and regret, anger and overwhelming violence. It is for those who love Heavy Metal, Lobo, crazy monsters, and comics that kickass.
