“God’s’Dog: Warrior”, Jonathan Pageau’s Retelling Of Saint Christopher, Continues On Kickstarter
Symbolic World Press recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for God’s’Dog: Warrior, a 150+ page follow-up to the massively successful God’s’Dog: Monster which was crowdfunded in 2021 via Indiegogo.
The project is already a runaway success, having raised roughly $80 thousand at the time of this writing.
Written by Jonathan and Matthieu Pageau and featuring artwork by Matt Sheean (illustrations), Jesse White (illustrations), Felipe Cartin (colors) and Matt Crotts (colors), God’s’Dog: Warrior was originally conceived as a screenplay and later written as a novel by Matthieu Pageau. The God’s’Dog series retells the story of the dog-headed Saint Christopher with additional mythological and fantasy elements tossed in, such as giants, dragons and warrior saints.
Here’s the official pitch taken from the God’s’Dog: Warrior Kickstarter campaign page:
Symbolic World Press invites you to enter a mythical world where angels, giants, dragons, warrior saints, and mysterious monks battle over an object of immense potential power—the world’s very first relic!
The Origin
In the dark days of December 2021, an unlikely hero arose from the margins, the Dogheaded St. Christopher. Brothers Jonathan and Matthieu Pageau answered the storyteller’s call with God’s’Dog: Monster, a graphic novel inspired by the medieval legends of St. Christopher. Their invitation to friends and supporters to help fund the graphic novel’s publication on IndieGoGo was a runaway success, raising nearly $250,000.00.
The Pageau Brothers invented the epic story of God’s’Dog thirteen years ago and originally crafted it as a screenplay. Although it attracted some attention from production companies, the truth is the story was too surprising and strange for Hollywood.
The decision to adapt the screenplay of God’s’Dog into a series of five graphic novels proved to be the right path for telling this story that at once harks back to ancient lore and brings legends forward into the present day with thought-provoking illustrations.
Book 2 — God’s’Dog: Warrior
Book 1, God’s’Dog: Monster introduced the Pageau Brothers’ audience to the characters and the lore. In book 2, God’s’Dog: Warrior, we will finish the first act of the story, in which the dog-headed Reprobus must undergo training, trials, perilous journeys, and viscous confrontations with some unlikely characters. The cosmic stakes of the story take shape as we discover the origin of the conflict with the giants. Our main characters will face irreversable stakes, and heart-wrenching choices as they they reach the Holy City. Nothing will be the same after that. The full color graphic novel will be 150+ pages.
