Four Decades Later, 80s Arcade Shooter “Ninja Emaki” Gets A Home Release
“Ghost Ninjitsu Scroll”…? Something like that.
Publisher Hamster has announced that Ninja Emaki will be released on 4 July for Nintendo Switch and PS4 as part of the digital Arcade Archives series.
Originally released in arcades by Nichibutsu in 1986, this is the first time that Ninja Emaki is seeing an official release on home consoles
In Ninja Emaki, players assume the role of Shinbei, a young hero who must rescue his princess from an army of demons. The gameplay combines run-and-gun action with vertical scrolling shooter stages. To assist you on your quest, there are eight different kinds of magic scrolls that can be collected along your way to the final demon king.
Like other Arcade Archives titles, players can post their high scores to the online leaderboards and change various game settings to match their own personal skill levels and taste. It is also worth mentioning that this Arcade Archives release uses the Japanese version of the ROM as the backbone of the game.
Arcade Archives Ninja Emaki will be available Thursday, 4 July for $7.99 via PSN and the Nintendo Switch eShop.
