Splatto Recounts Comic Book History With “COMIC BOOK: The Comic Book”

Last week, independent comic book creator and Splatto Comics founder Richard C. Meyer launched a crowdfunding campaign for COMIC BOOK: The Comic Book, an illustrated 22-page retelling of comic book history written and illustrated by Meyer. As the campaign acquires more funding over its initial goal, the book will receive additional pages.

Here’s the official pitch taken from the COMIC BOOK: The Comic Book Indiegogo campaign page:

Preserving the TRUE History of Comics!

The history of the American Comic Book Industry is being rewritten as we speak! This project seeks to cement what ACTUALLY happened in print by someone who witnessed Comic Book History as it was made.

This will be a visual document of key issues from the publishing history of Marvel and DC.

In the spirit of Ed Piskor’s HIP HOP FAMILY TREE, this project is a love letter to the great comics of the recent past from someone who rode his bike to buy these issues fresh off the stands.

If you LIKE comics you will LOVE this book!

Backers can get a copy of COMIC BOOK: The Comic Book for $22. If you have more cash to spend, you can also receive previous Splatto releases such as 499, Rock ‘N Roll Ninja, and multiple Jawbreakers titles.

It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $10 for those in the United States.
