Fantasy Worlds Collide in Alterna Comics’ “Blood Moon” (Crowdfunding Spotlight)
My wife gets mad when I call it that…
Alterna Comics recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for Blood Moon, a crossover story featuring characters from Peter Simeti’s King Cryptid and Robert Geronimo’s Blood Realm.
Written by Simeti and Geronimo and featuring illustrations by Keir Covington and colors by both Geronimo and Kristian Rossi, Blood Moon is a 70+ page (72 pages of story; 80 pages in total) graphic novel that tells an in-continuity tale for both series.
Here’s the official pitch taken from the Blood Moon preorder page on the Alterna Comics website:
Dimensions Collide in this Alterna Crossover!
After chasing an unknown creature through a portal, KING CRYPTID finds himself in the desolate Lands of Mhordrin. Stranded on a strange planet in an even stranger dimension, King Cryptid discovers that the villainous VARGORE has his sights set on interdimensional domination and will stop at nothing to control and corrupt all life. If he hopes to return to Earth, King Cryptid must fight this cosmic threat alongside KYRON MORVEL and the IRON WOLVES!
BLOOD MOON marks the first time that KING CRYPTID (New England’s Cursed Immortal Supernatural Man-Monster) meets KYRON MORVEL (Leader of the Iron Wolves and one of the last bastions of good on the brutal Lands of Mhordrin)!
This in-continuity crossover takes place after BLOOD REALM #18 and KING CRYPTID #9. While this is a crossover, BLOOD MOON will provide a great introduction for readers that are new to the characters and worlds featured in the story. If you’re already reading BLOOD REALM and/or KING CRYPTID — the added context will provide even more depth to the story. No matter what, there will be a long-lasting impact on both titles as the result of this crossover — nothing is being reset, rebooted, or retconned — and no punches are being pulled!

Backers can get a digital version of Blood Moon for $10, while physical copies start at $25. If you have more cash to spend, you can also receive the following tchotchkes and extras:
- Multiple copies of the book
- Variant covers
- A glow-in-the-dark cover
- Signed editions
- Art prints
- Posters
- T-shirts
- Sketch cards
- Sketch cover commissions
- And of course previous issues of Blood Realm and King Cryptid
It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $7 for those in the United States.
