Konami’s 80s Arcade Shooter “Finalizer Super Transformation” Finally on PS4 and Nintendo Switch
Publisher Hamster has announced that Finalizer Super Transformation is now available on Nintendo Switch and PS4 as part of the digital Arcade Archives series.
Originally released in arcades by Konami in 1985, this is the first time that Finalizer Super Transformation has been commercially available since Microsoft shut down the Xbox Game Room service several years ago.
One or two players take flight in the “variable armor combat system” codenamed FINALIZER to save all of mankind from the “out-of-control Odes-30i.” Your Finalizer ship begins as a jet, but collecting power-up capsules will transform it into a super-powered flying mech (like Transbot… eh, none of you played Transbot). Additional power-ups will give the mech new weapons. If you opt to shoot the power-up capsules rather than collect them, you can freeze time, collect bonus points, or become temporarily invincible, giving Finalizer a bit more strategy than typical vertical shooters from the era.
Like other Arcade Archives titles, players can post their high scores to the online leaderboards and change various game settings to match their own personal skill levels and taste.
Arcade Archives Finalizer Super Transformation is available today for $7.99 via PSN and the Nintendo Switch eShop.
