Take On The Mafia In 80’s Arcade Shooter “Lead Angle” Now On Consoles

“What are you prepared to do!?!”

Publisher Hamster has announced that Lead Angle is now available on Nintendo Switch and PS4 as part of the digital Arcade Archives series.

Originally released in arcades by Seibu Kaihatsu in 1988 and later ported to the SEGA Master System, this is the first time that an arcade-perfect version of Lead Angle (aka Dead Angle) is seeing an official home release.

Players take control of George Phoenix, a man whose girlfriend has been kidnapped by labor unions the mob. Phoenix (who has the not-so-unique ability to rise from the ashes when you insert another quarter) can take out waves of villainous Teamsters gangsters using pistols, shotguns, grenades and “a Tommy gun!”

The gameplay was unique for the time, blending both first- and third-person shooting in a way where you moved both your target reticle and your character’s outline independently, dodging and shooting at the same time. You also have the ability to duck and cover, but only for a short time. Do you have what it takes to defeat the big boss “KING” and rescue your gal?

She looks like a flapper to me. Meh, they can keep her.

Like other Arcade Archives titles, players can post their high scores to the online leaderboards and change various game settings to match their own personal skill levels and taste.

Arcade Archives Lead Angle is available today for $7.99 via PSN and the Nintendo Switch eShop.
