Four Decades Later, Arcade Classic “Moon Shuttle” Achieves Console Liftoff

“Never tell me the odds!” -Some deadbeat dad who got murdered by his kid

Publisher Hamster has announced that Moon Shuttle is now available on Nintendo Switch and PS4 as part of the digital Arcade Archives series.

Originally released in Japanese arcades by Nichibutsu in 1981 and later ported to the Commodore 64, Atari 8-bit and TRS-80 CoCo, this is the first time that an arcade-perfect version of Moon Shuttle is seeing an official commercial release on home consoles.

In Moon Shuttle, players must blast off into the horizontally scrolling cosmos to defeat a horde of aliens that have invaded the nearby asteroid belt. That means you must safely navigate waves of asteroids as well as the advancing enemy spacecraft, in ever-increasingly difficult stages. And you thought your mission was to simply travel to the moon! (That’s a different game: Lunar Lander)

Like other Arcade Archives titles, players can post their high scores to the online leaderboards and change various game settings to match their own personal skill levels and taste.

Arcade Archives Moon Shuttle is available today for $7.99 via PSN and the Nintendo Switch eShop.
