E3 2020 cancelled, possibly replaced with online show (updated)
*Update! Yep, it’s cancelled. Original story follows...
The king daddy of of gaming conferences, E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), stands on the precipice of being officially cancelled later today. Scheduled to take place in June at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the show will be canceled due to concerns over the coronavirus (aka COVID-19 or the “Commie Cough”). The ESA (Entertainment Software Association, the organizers of E3) intends to announce the show’s cancellation at 9:30 am Los Angeles time.
This is a big loss for the ESA, as E3 represents a significant portion of the association’s revenue. As a result, the ESA is almost certainly looking for alternatives, and has reportedly written a private memo to its partners that it is “exploring options for an online E3 event this summer.”
I know what you’re thinking… “So, some communist, bat-soup-eating weirdo is now responsible for me losing my big summer gaming party?” Yep, pretty much.
Fuckin’ Cancel Culture, am I right?
