Disney to remove Nazi/problematic imagery from “Indiana Jones” films

The Indiana Jones movies are currently available to watch on Netflix, but once that contract expires, Disney intends to move them over to Disney+ along with their other Lucasfilm properties such as Star Wars. However, it looks like they will be very different movies when they arrive on Disney’s streaming service.

In an interview with German outlet Das Voxel, Disney’s vice president of content Francesca Garcia-Smith confirmed that the company intended to digitally remove all “problematic” imagery from the four films, including all references to Nazi Germany.

According to Garcia-Smith:

“The (Indiana Jones) movies are all classics, but we have a different idea about what should be allowed as casual entertainment on our platforms. That’s why we’re going to make some changes and remove the hate symbols from the movies and anything else that could be seen as problematic. It’s going to be a lot of work, especially trying to make the “Temple of Doom” movie acceptable, but we have someone who is literally worse than Hitler running America right now, so it’s the morally responsible thing to do.”

I think we can probably say good-bye to this scene…

Are you disappointed with the coming changes, or do the original Indiana Jones movies truly “belong in a museum?” Let us know in the comments!

  • Retrospectively altering films to fit with any ‘new view’ is not correct.
It’s not as if they were glorifying it – far from it.

  • I knew this was bullshit before reading it. Paramount own the distribution rights to those films not Disney.

  • Why hasn’t this been removed it’s completely false and the rights to the films are all paramount except the new film is only partially paramount this should be removed and anyone that thinks it’s ok to whitewash the Nazis is insane !
