Kerri Hoskins Back in the Sonya Blade Costume 25 Years Later
Once upon a mid-90s, the Mortal Kombat series is famous for two things: ultra violence and realistic graphics featuring fully digitized actors.
One of the more notable personalities to lend their stunt-performing prowess to the MK series was model/actress Kerri Ann Reavis (formerly Hoskins). 25 years later, Mrs. Hoskins/Reavis has dusted off the green and white tights to show what she would look like as a fifty year-old Sonya Blade, and shared the images via her Instagram page over the past week.
I’m sure you’re mostly here for the pics, so without further ado, here ya’ go…
Hoskins assumed the mantle of Sonya Blade with Mortal Kombat 3 (Elizabeth Malecki portrayed the character in the first two games). Retro gamers might also recognize her from Midway’s NBA Jam Tournament Edition, as Kia in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, as well as – *ahem!* – other places (straightens tie).
Of course, the Mortal Kombat series stopped using digitized actors in the mid-90s and instead shifted to motion-capture technology. Given NetherRealm’s deliberate efforts to remove attractive female characters from the Mortal Kombat roster, one has to wonder whether Kerri Hoskins/Reavis would still be welcome to portray Sonya Blade in the current, PC-obsessed gaming industry.
If you’re keen on picking up a signed copy of the images above, you can do so through Reavis’ website, Kerri Ann Gallery. While you’re there, you can also check out some other lovelies, including her geode art and “liquid metal” paintings. You can visit Reavis’ website here, or check out her Instagram page here.
Earlier today, Mrs. Reavis posted a short video of her recent photo shoot, so there may be more throwback Mortal Kombat goodness headed our way.
I wonder if Carlos Pesina still has his old Raiden duds… I guess the hat still fits, eh?
