Despite using other crowdfunding platforms in the past, Fried Comics recently brought their genre mishmash book Deadskins! to Indiegogo, giving the IGG-faithful a chance to check it out.

The current campaign is to fund the remastered edition of Deadskins! issues 3 and 4, which will be bundled together in a single book.

What’s Deadskins? It’s a five-issue horror/comedy/western series with black and white art (and splashes of red blood) that is described as Blazing Saddles meets The Walking Dead.

“Where the white women at?!”

“They’re dead, son. Walkers got ‘em.”

…Well, it’s something like that.

Here’s the plot synopsis taken from the Deadskins! Indiegogo campaign page:

A Harvard-educated dandy and his blind, drunk companion are all that stand between the Old West and an Undead Apocalypse. This is the true story of Custer’s Last Stand… whatever they taught you in school is bullsh!t.

Last time out, we met Shane, a Harvard dandy on his way back home to propose to his girlfriend. He falls asleep on the train, and when he wakes up, everyone else on board is dead.

When he gets to town, same story. Everyone’s dead (or gone), except the town drunk and his, uh, “wife”.

Together, they have to solve the mystery of what happened and why they were spared… and save the girl, of course.

But when word gets out that there’s something special about our unlikely heroes, they’re quickly drafted into a war they don’t understand… and it’s not entirely clear who the real bad guys are…

In this volume, you’ll meet General Custer. Custer sends Shane and Jack on a “special” mission alongside the brutes Thomas and Boston… and a kid aptly named “The Kid”.

Along the way, they meet some butt-kicking cowgirls… and, of course, zombies.

Plus: Shane finally reunites with his beloved Annie! But, uh, she’s full of surprises.

So settle in for some weird western action!

Backers can get a digital version of issues 3 and 4 of Deadskins! for $10, while physical copies start at $25. For those with more cash to spend, you can also pick up multiple copies of the book, variant covers, a copy of issues 1 and 2 if you want to catch up, and even a “supersized” collection of every Fried Comics book to date.

Since Deadskins! already raised more than $12 thousand on another crowdfunding platform, the project is already fully funded and set up as an in-demand store.
