Brick Bashing Never Changes… “Arkanoid – Eternal Battle” Coming in 2022

Bricks to right of them,
Bricks to left of them,
Bricks in front of them
Volley’d and thunder’d;
Storm’d at with shot and ball,

Into the mouth of hell
Rode the Vaus.

On Monday, game publisher Microids announced that a new Arkanoid game is in the works, and is currently scheduled for a 2022 release.

Here’s a teaser trailer, folks:

The original Arkanoid was developed by Taito and released in arcades in 1986. A number of sequels and spin-offs have come since, though they all follow the same basic premise: bounce ball, break bricks, win!

There is a very thin plot at the core of the game, though…

When the mother ship ARKANOID comes under attack, the small spacecraft VAUS manages to escape but ends up warped into another dimension. Wandering in an interdimensional labyrinth, VAUS must destroy blocks called “spacewalls” in order to defeat “DOH”, creator of the maze.

We’ll have more on Arkanoid – Eternal Battle as it develops.
