“Blood Realm” Creator Shows His Softer Side with “Little Maia Omnibus”

“Greetings travelers…”

A-hem! Nope, not today.

Today – well, on Thursday, anyway – Blood Realm creator Robert Geronimo (!) launched a crowdfunding campaign for Little Maia Omnibus, a collected edition of three previously-released children’s stories.

Written and illustrated by Geronimo and featuring colors by Jose Exposito, the Little Maia series is known for having vibrant, sequential artwork and no text. Zero. Why? Not only can parents tell the stories a different way each time they “read” it with their children, but the kids can flex their imaginations by telling the story their own way by following along with the pictures.

Here’s the official pitch taken from the Little Maia Omnibus Indiegogo campaign page:

A Wordless Adventure

The Little Maia Omnibus collects three wordless adventures into one volume, appropriate for readers of any age and language!

This wordless format allows children to use their imagination and creates a unique, shared experience between the children and parents by sharing the visual experience of this magical journey together.

The Omnibus Includes:

Little Maia and the Coral City

Little Maia’s world is turned upside down when she wakes to find her house has been swallowed by a giant fish. Inside she discovers the beautiful Coral City, and with the help of her new friends, she must figure out a way to get back home.

Little Maia and the Lunar Express

After a strange light shines from outside her window, Little Maia discovers she is being visited by three Martians that have lost their way. With the help of their alien powers, Little Maia constructs a magical space train to traverse the galaxy and return her new friends back home.

Little Maia and the Crystal Caves

After discovering a large hole in the middle of her room, Little Maia travels underground to the Crystal Caves, filled with miners. But when a terrible cyclops threatens her new friends, it’s up to Little Maia to help them stand up against their bully.

Backers can get a signed copy of Little Maia Omnibus for $25. If you have more cash to spend, you can also receive the following:

  • Multiple copies of the book
  • Sketch cards
  • Original artwork
  • Copies of Geronimo’s Blood Realm books (if you want to give kids nightmares after reading Little Maia with them)

It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $7 for those in the United States.
