Allumer’s “Rezon” Now Available on PS4, Nintendo Switch via the Arcade Archives

Publisher Hamster has announced that Rezon is now available on Nintendo Switch and PS4 as part of the digital Arcade Archives series.

Originally released by Allumer in 1991 for arcades, Rezon is a side-scrolling 2D shoot ‘em up (or simply “shooter” as we called them back then) in the vein of Gradius and (very much so) R-Type.

Players must take control of the advanced SR-91 fighter ship equipped with a “VAWS” (Variable Armor & Weapon System) to defend earth from an alien invasion. To help you in your mission, your ship can be equipped with items or “Arms” which give you the ability to shoot behind you or block enemy fire.

This is also the first time that Rezon is commercially available outside of Japanese arcades. (I think, anyway… details on this one are pretty scant).

Like other Arcade Archives titles, players can post their high scores to the online leaderboards and change various game settings to match their own personal skill levels and taste.

Arcade Archives Rezon is available today for $7.99 via PSN and the Nintendo Switch eShop.
