Sweet Comics’ “Downcast Volume 4: Hunting Ground” Now Available for Preorder (Crowdfunding Spotlight)

Independent comic book creator and Sweet Comics founder Clint Stoker recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for Downcast Volume 4: Hunting Ground, an 80-page sci-fi graphic novel.
This time around, the campaign is being conducted on the Sweet Comics website rather than conventional crowdfunding platforms. The project is already fully funded, having raised 138% of its original goal at the time of this writing.
Written by Stoker and featuring illustrations by Ignacio Lazaro (chapters 1 and 3) and Eric Weathers (Chapter 2), and colors by Damian Penalba, Downcast 4: Hunting Ground continues the story of the supernatural world of Strata.
Here’s the brief pitch taken from the Downcast: Hunting Ground campaign page:
Jax has teamed-up with Monstro to hunt the influx of gods entering the city of Strata. Joanne is on a mission of her own to uncover Carver’s tragic history.
The lines between friend and foe are blurred in the latest installment of Downcast.
Backers can get a digital version of Downcast 4: Hunting Ground for $12, while physical copies start at $20. If you have more cash to spend, you can also receive the following tchotchkes and extras:
- Multiple copies of the book
- Variant covers
- A t-shirt
- Trading cards
- Copies of the first 3 Downcast volumes if you want to catch up
- Other (non-Downcast) Sweet Comics titles
It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $6 for those in the United States.

Really enjoyed the first 3 downcast. Wish he would produce them at a steady pace. This has potential to quickly grow into a 10+ issue series and stand out in the crowd. Would be interesting to have something like that while others need at times years to produce a sequel
