The tales from the cryptid continue…

Over the weekend, independent comic book creator and Alterna Comics founder Peter Simeti launched a preorder campaign for issues 5-9 of King Cryptid.*

The project is already fully funded, having raised $17 thousand between both Indiegogo and the Alterna Comics website at the time of this writing.

Written by Simeti the artwork of multiple creators, King Cryptid is planned to be a 100+ issue series with roughly 4-5 issues every year.

KING CRYPTID is an ongoing comic book series for readers of all ages!

With over 100 issues planned, this series documents the adventures of New England’s supernatural hero — KING CRYPTID — and all who cross his path. Every issue feels (and smells) like a classic — as they feature glossy covers with newsprint interiors and an episodic storytelling style. Each issue can be enjoyed on its own while also acting as a piece of a larger puzzle.

Newsprint interiors (the standard here at Alterna), thought balloons, editor’s notes, flipbook style covers (a cover on the front AND back of each issue), a “Mail to the King” letters page in which King Cryptid himself responds to the letters that arrive his way, a “Cryptid Sightings” fan art section — this series is all about the fun and freedom of the comic book medium.

Backers can get digital versions of King Cryptid issues 5-9 for $5, while physical copies of all 5 books can be picked up for $15 (each issue is also available individually). If you have more cash to spend, you can also receive the following tchotchkes and extras:
