“DEAD at 17” Celebrates 20th Anniversary With “KILL DAY”

Sooooo…. DEAD at 37?

Earlier this week, independent comic book creator Josh Howard launched a crowdfunding campaign for DEAD at 17: KILL DAY, a 32-page supernatural fantasy comic.

Written by and illustrated by Howard (T-Bird and Throttle), DEAD at 17: KILL DAY is a retelling of the first issue of DEAD at 17 (then titled DEAD @ 17) which released just over 20 years ago.

Here’s the official pitch taken from the DEAD at 17: KILL DAY Indiegogo campaign page:

DEAD at 17: KILL DAY

17 year old Nara Kilday met her demise in the opening pages of the original series. From that point, the rest of issue #1 was told from the perspective of her best friend Hazy.

DEAD at 17: KILL DAY is a NEW 32 page comic that retells those events, but now from NARA’S perspective. We will follow her on her journey from death to the veil between worlds to her subsequent resurrection and battle to rescue Hazy from the forces of darkness.

BUT WAIT!! Lest you think this is just a simple retelling, think again! This story will introduce new story elements that will serve as the jumping off point for the launch of an all new series coming later this year!

BUT THAT’S NOT ALL!

A new 20th Anniversary reprinting of the original Issue #1 with brand new cover options is also available. If you are new to DEAD at 17, rest assured KILL DAY stands on its own. However, reading KILL DAY in tandem with issue #1 will definitely enhance your experience.

Backers can get a digital version of DEAD at 17: KILL DAY for $5, while physical copies start at $15. If you have more cash to spend, you can also receive the following tchotchkes and extras:

  • Multiple copies of the book
  • Variant covers
  • Sketch covers
  • A reprint edition of DEAD at 17 issue 1
  • A DEAD @ 17 compendium collecting the first three volumes of the series
  • Original artwork commission

It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at NUMBER for those in the United States.
