Konami’s Arcade Action Game “Surprise Attack” Now on Nintendo Switch, PS4

No Pearl Harbor jokes here.

Publisher Hamster has announced that Surprise Attack is now available on Nintendo Switch and PS4 as part of the digital Arcade Archives series.

Originally released in Japanese arcades by Konami in 1990, this is the first time that Surprise Attack is seeing an official release in the West.

In Surprise Attack, an evil terrorist group calling itself “Black Dawn” has taken over the space station, shuttle, and moon base. With gameplay reminiscent of the original Shinobi arcade game, players must diffuse bombs, avoid traps and obstacles, and of course, eliminate the Black Dawn terrorists to save the galaxy. Each stage ends with a boss fight (naturally) and a bonus quiz game to score extra points (WTF?).

Like other Arcade Archives titles, players can post their high scores to the online leaderboards and change various game settings to match their own personal skill levels and taste.

Arcade Archives Surprise Attack is available today for $7.99 via PSN and the Nintendo Switch eShop.
