Konami’s Arcade Classic “Tutankham” Resurrected on PS4, Nintendo Switch

The ‘-un’ at the end was too much for an arcade marquee to handle.

Publisher Hamster has announced that the overhead maze game Tutankham is now available on Nintendo Switch and PS4 as part of the digital Arcade Archives series.

Originally developed by Konami and released in arcades by Stern in 1982, Tutankham was later ported to the Atari 2600, Colecovision, Intellivision, Odyssey II, the VIC-20, and several international PC platforms. This is the first time that Tutankham has been commercially available since Microsoft shut down the Xbox Game Room service several years ago.

In Tutankham, players brave the depths of the ancient Egyptian pyramids in search of the pharaoh’s lost treasures. Explore the underground labyrinths, navigate traps and use both your gun and bombs (sounds unsafe for an ancient tomb) to defeat enemies (snakes, bats and scorpions, naturally) and to retrieve the legendary horde of King Tut himself.

Like other Arcade Archives titles, players can post their high scores to the online leaderboards and change various game settings to match their own personal skill levels and taste.

Arcade Archives Tutankham is available today for $7.99 via PSN and the Nintendo Switch eShop.
