Retro Business Sim “The Drug Store” Now on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 via the Console Archives

Publisher Hamster has announced that the 1998 business sim The Drug Store is now available on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 as part of the digital Console Archives series.

Originally released in Japan by Human Entertainment for the PlayStation in 1998, The Drug Store is a spin-off of Human’s The Conveni (~Konbini) series and was a tie-in with the Japanese drugstore chain Matsumoto Kiyoshi.

In The Drug Store, players take on the role of a store manager, stocking shelves, balancing the books, and hiring (or firing) employees to grow a single shop into a full retail empire. Once your first location is thriving, you can open even more stores across town.

Like other Console Archives titles, The Drug Store includes customizable button layouts, multiple save points, screen layout adjustments, and filters that recreate the look of an old CRT televisionโ€ฆ. aka CRT filters, I guess. It should be noted that this Console Archives release includes only the Japanese version of the game, so all in-game text is in Japanese. The option menus and manual are available in English and several other languages.

Console Archives The Drug Store is available now for $11.99 via PSN and the Nintendo eShop. You can check out the release trailer below, or visit the official Hamster website here for additional info.
