No Light Remains: Brazilian Hospital Horror Game Puts You on the Night Shift From Heck!
With all of the weirdos and crazies that come in, a hospital night shift already feels like a horror game, so four game developers in Brazil figured they might as well make it official.
No Light Remains is the debut project from Mad Baboon, a new Brazilian studio, and it is a psychological first-person horror/anomaly game set in a Brazilian hospital at the very start of an unexplained outbreak. You play as a security guard at Hospital Clรญnico Central (that’s Central Clinical Hospital for those who don’t speak perfect Portugaluese like me), patrolling the floors on the night shift and checking that everything is running normally (spoilers: itโs not).
An infection of unknown nature is spreading through the hospital halls, and suspected carriers are known to be aggressive, so getting too close can get you infected, too. But this is still a hospital, after all, and the game asks you to examine your own morality and at least try to keep your humanity, as some of the shady, shambling figures you come across might just be people in need. Tase first, ask questions later? Not a viable treatment plan for someone bound by the Hippocratic Oath. Wait, youโre the security guard… never mind that last part.
As an anomaly-style game, the environment itself is the enemy. The hospital evolves around you, and survival means spotting what is wrong before the wrongness spots you. Uncover the clues, find the answers, and survive, assuming the fluorescent lights and your own nerves can hold out long enough.
The development team at Mad Baboon includes four founders, Lucas on concept art, Jun on game development, Matheus the full-stack developer turned game dev, and Fabio the senior 3D artist, who have been building No Light Remains as a side gig since 2025, between day jobs and in their free time, with friends pitching in on narrative, art, music, voice acting, and mocap. They are launching a crowdfunding campaign to finish it up, using Patreon for international backers and Catarse for the Brazilian public.
The No Light Remains Steam page is live now with a “coming soon” tag, so wishlist away and keep your flashlight handy. Your shift is about to begin.
