Publisher Fireshine Games is bringing indie 2D shoot-’em-up Gunboat God to the Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android on November 17. Already available on PC, PS5, and SeXbox, Gunboat God is the work of the one-man, Melbourne-based developer Janson RAD (or more humanly speaking, Thomas Janson).

In Gunboat God, players control a heavily armed boat across more than 200 side-scrolling stages with the aim of reaching a Citadel in the sky. There are 20-plus mission types, and of course hordes of enemies and multi-stage bosses intent on putting a full stop to your advance. There’s also a crocodile of curious importance. Hurm….

Fortunately for you, your little watercraft ain’t no Scruffy the tugboat. You can transform your gunboat and upgrade its weapons and abilities as you progress, sentencing your enemies to an eternity in Davy Jones’ locker with extreme prejudice.

The Switch version of Gunboat God will be priced at $12.99 (or £9.99 GBP / €12.99 across the pond), while the mobile versions will have a “try-before-you-buy” model where the first biome is free to play with no ads, so you can test the waters before tossing in your cash.
