“Four animals and a robot have been given racing cars. This was a mistake.“
Those are Beastflaps Games’ own words, and they’re quite possibly the best imaginable pitch for SG Racing, a top-down pixel-art kart racer launching on November 9 via Steam PC. Join Silly Goose and his pals across six increasingly questionable worlds, where quick reflexes and deeply irresponsible egg-tossing are the keys to victory.
The headline attractions are both bizarre and stupid, but in fun ways: police geese patrolling the tracks, jumps over lines of buses, environmental hazards ranging from muddy bogs to lava flows to dimensional wormholes, and a survival mode called Goose Chase, where a pack of extremely determined geese closes in behind you. There’s also the “standard” single-player championship and time trials modes, too. Up to four players can race together via local play or Steam Remote Play. No matter which mode you play, retro gamers who are fans of the arcade game Super Sprint should feel at home here.
SG Racing is scheduled to release on 9 November for Steam PC. There will be a 20-percent launch discount for a limited time, and there is a free demo right now if you want to hone your egg-flinging skillz ahead of time.
