The Witcher: Enhanced Edition free on GOG

If you’ve waited this long to pick up the first game in The Witcher series, GOG.com is now giving it away for free (regularly $9.99). You’ll have to fork over your e-mail address and sign up for promotional newsletters, but you could easily unsubscribe once your game is downloaded.
The Witcher was developed by CD Projekt Red and released in October 2007. The Enhanced Edition of the game added several improvements including new animations, a redesigned inventory system and faster load times. While console ports were in the works at one time, those versions never saw the light of day, making PC the only way to experience Geralt’s first adventure.

Fancy a game of Gwent?
This giveaway is likely meant to promote Gwent, which is CD Projekt’s free-to-play, turn-based digital collectible card game based on a card game of the same name featured in The Witcher series. Your free download of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition comes with a free Gwent card “keg” containing five cards to get you started. Undoubtedly, CD Projekt would like for your to buy a few more.
There’s no indication of how long this promotion will run, so whether you’re a fan of fantasy adventure, or you’re just in love with Geralt’s dreamy, golden eyes, make haste with the download.

Getting the first game on PC is the only way to truly get the full Triss.
