SEGA confirms September release date for Valkyria Chronicles 4; full details on special editions

SEGA has confirmed that Valkyria Chronicles 4 will launch on September 25th for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC, the last of which is part of SEGA’s “Best of Japan on PC” initiative, which was announced at E3 last week.
SEGA also revealed a “launch edition” of the game (above), retails for $59.99 and includes an exclusive controller skin featuring Ragnarok the medic dog. This is a separate package from the limited “Memoirs from Battle” Premium Edition for Valkyria Chronicles 4 that was announced in May (below), which retails for $99.99 and includes an exclusive artbook and a replica of Claude’s tank, the Hafen.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 is the latest installment of SEGA’s tactical strategy franchise featuring a part overhead turn-based strategy, part RPG, and part real-time 3rd person shooter “BLiTZ” battle system. This latest installment features new support options, a new Grenadier class, the largest-scale maps in series history, and a chance for your unit to execute a “Last Stand” action just prior to death.
The composer of the original Valkyria Chronicles series, Hitoshi Sakimoto, returns to provide a this new installment’s orchestral soundtrack. The series’ watercolor-inspired visual style returns as well, though prettied-up a bit for the current generation.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 takes place during the events of the original Valkyria Chronicles, but focuses on a different cast of main characters. Players take control of the young Commander Claude Wallace who is joined by some of his childhood friends to fight the military machine of the autocratic Eastern Imperial Alliance… using tanks and guns, of course.
Save your pennies or preorder, as you still have a few months before Valkyria Chronicles 4 launches on September 25th.
