Stylish brawler “Uppers” may finally be heading West; rated for PS4 in Australia

Marvelous Games may finally be giving Western PS4 owners the chance to play their stylish brawler Uppers, as a recent Australian rating suggests.
Released on PlayStation Vita in 2016 exclusively in Japan, Western gamers following Uppers were possibly losing hope of ever seeing a release overseas due to the dwindling support of the PS Vita platform.
Uppers is an over-the-top brawler set in a world where fighting prowess leads to higher social status, particularly with the ladies. Unlike Marvelous’ other brawling series Senran Kagura, the combat system in Uppers focuses more on countering and environmental interactions. Of course, another key difference is that Uppers lets you play as dudes.
The chances for a western Vita release are probably slim at this point, and there’s no evidence yet suggesting that Uppers is headed to any platforms other than PS4. It’s also unknown whether a PS4 version of Uppers will be essentially a straight port of the Vita version or if it will vary in any significant ways. Those concerned that Uppers might be censored prior to a western release should be comforted knowing that Marvelous has a good track record of localizing games with the most risqué elements largely intact.
