Retro-inspired platformer “The Messenger” now available on Switch, PC

The retro-inspired action/platformer The Messenger is now available on the Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam).

An unabashed love-letter to the 8-bit era, The Messenger is heavily inspired by fast-paced ninja action classics like Ninja Gaiden.

In The Messenger, you play as a ninja master who must traverse the plague world to rescue your clan. Your character unlocks new Ana’s you progress, including wall climbing, gliding, and of course, new weapons. Your upgraded abilities eventually open up what starts as a linear game into a “Metroidvania” style adventure where you can explore new areas and explore old ones with enhanced abilities. It also blends live-action and animated sprites which sets it apart visually from many other retro-inspired platformers.

So far, The Messenger is being very well-received, as evidenced by many positive reviews and being named PAX South “Game of the Show” by TechRaptr.

The Messenger is developed by Sabotage and published by Devolver Digital and is available now on the Nintendo Switch eShop and Steam PC for $19.99.
