Bethesda giving away “Morrowind” on PC to celebrate “The Elder Scrolls'” 25th anniversary
The title almost says it all.
Bethesda’s celebrated role-playing series The Elder Scrolls celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and you too can celebrate by snagging a free download of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind on PC.
That’s a lot of celebration.
To get your free digital copy of Morrowind (looks to be the “Game of the Year” edition), log-in to Bethesda.net (or create an account) and redeem a free copy for PC using the code TES25TH-MORROWIND. The offer expires on 31 March.
On a personal note, I once owned a copy of Morrowind for Xbox 360. I put about ten hours into the game before getting frustrated with it and selling it. It seemed that no matter what I did, I was getting absolutely destroyed by the weakest enemies because my fighter was consistently missing with his attacks. I would have to murder and rob people to buy healing items, then go back out and once again get marauded by rats in the forest.
I did this for ten hours.
Years later, I was on a bus with my Army unit, and one of my friends was abuzz with excitement for the release of Skyrim. I told him how my ten frustrating hours getting killed by rats in Morrowind had pretty much driven me away from The Elder Scrolls series.
He said, “Were you running everywhere you went? If you constantly have your character run instead of walk, you’ll drain your stamina and that can cause your attacks to miss.”
