“Katana Zero” sells 100K copies; speedrun mode, free DLC coming soon
Released on 18 April for Nintendo Switch and PC, Katana Zero has sold over 100 thousand copies in the first week. Both developer Askiisoft and publisher Devolver Digital are very happy with the reception, with Devolver pointing out that Katana Zero is the company’s “second fastest selling Nintendo Switch game behind Enter the Gungeon.”
In addition to releasing the sales numbers, Askiisoft has announced that work work is underway for a new “speedrun mode” and additional free DLC for Katana Zero. There are no further details on the release date or what type of content gamers can expect, though a representative from Askiisoft noted that they hope to have it out by the end of 2019.
Katana Zero is a 2D hack ‘n slash platformer featuring a drug-addicted samurai. The game clearly has a retro-inspired look reminiscent of Hotline Miami, plus all of the gorgeous, glorious blood by the pixelated bucketful.
Katana Zero is available now for Nintendo Switch and PC.
