Von Klaus’ new graphic novel “Monster M.D.” has the prescription for success

Earlier this week, comic book writer Von Klaus launched a crowdfunding campaign for a new horror/comedy graphic novel Monster M.D. The campaign was an instant success, as it was completely funded on its first day and has now raised nearly 400% of its original goal for a total of more than $11 thousand at the time of this writing.

Monster M.D. is a girthy 111-page graphic novel written with an experienced creative team including writer Von Klaus Graveyard Shift Vol. 2), featuring illustrator Marco Maccagni (Zombie Tramp), colorist Tanya Wicker (The Signal), and letterer Eric Weathers (Earthworm Jim). According to the Monster M.D. campaign page, this 100+ page book features a complete, self-contained story, so there’s no worry or waiting a year or so for a follow-up campaign to finish what this book started. “No cliffhangers here!”

But what is Monster M.D. actually about? Here’s a plot summary of the project taken from the project’s Indiegogo page:

Backers can get a digital version of Monster M.D. (along with a bonus digital sketchbook) for $18, while physical copies of the book (all signed) start at $25. If you have a bit more cash to spend, you can also get other perks including multiple copies of the book, a physical edition of the sketchbook, poster, t-shirt, and the chance to have either your name on a tombstone or your likeness drawn into the book (as a hideous monster, of course!).

Still looking for more swag? There are several bonuses if the campaign meets certain funding stretch goals, too, including a button, bomber jacket patch, an upgraded cover, a bonus story featuring the invisible surgical assistant, Heidi H. Hyde, and even a Monster M.D. Vs. Shinobi Sasquatch crossover comic book written by Von Klaus and Cal Jameson and featuring artwork by Rob Willis.
