“Relic Shadows of Light” combines Crusades-era history with superhero fantasy

Last week, Dennis Chacon launched a crowdfunding campaign for his new comic, Relic Shadows of Light. Written and illustrated by Chacon, Relic is a 40-page graphic novel combining Crusades-era history with superhero fantasy.
Let’s turn to the Relic SOL Indiegogo campaign page for a full plot synopsis:
“This story is about a crusader; Franco of Aragon during the invasion of the Island of Malta in 1522 AD, it was the second and ultimately successful attempt by the Ottoman Empire with help from supernatural forces to expel the Knights of Rhodes. Frank our main protagonist was mortally wounded at the massacre, unknown to him and the Crusader Knights, angels were sent from heaven in human form to assist the Knights. An angel in human form was also wounded during the battle and fell on-top of Franco’s body, his blood poured into Franco’s wounds and the angel’s blood began to change Franco as he was dying.”
Backers can get a digital version of Relic for $10, while physical copies of the book (all signed) start at $20. If you’ve got a bit more cash to spend, there are also backing tiers with a trading card, a poster, and a variant cover featuring colors by Brett R. Smith.
