Well, we didn’t so much “call it” as we put it on our wishlist. Either way, it’s still great that Alisia Dragoon is even a small part of the current gaming conversation, because it’s excellent.

All that gloating aside, SEGA has announced the final set of 12 (yep, twelve) games packed into the upcoming micro-console, making a grand total of 42 titles. Here are the new twelve:

• Columns

• Darius

• Dynamite Headdy

• Eternal Champions

• Kid Chameleon

• Light Crusader

• Monster World IV

• Road Rash II

• Strider

• Tetris

• Virtua Fighter 2

While there are plenty of SEGA mainstays on that list, there are a few nice surprises. Road Rash II is a great choice to fill the gap in racing/driving titles, Monster World IV is another previously Japan-only release, and we’ve already mentioned Alisia Dragoon. Even more curious is the addition of Darius and Tetris, as neither of those games ever received an official Genesis/Mega Drive release at all.

Japanese SEGA fans are also getting a special bonus as SEGA is also planning to release a Mega Drive Tower Mini (aka Tower of Power), which includes miniature versions of the Mega CD (the SEGA CD), the 32X, and tiny Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic & Knuckles game cartridges to complete the look (no Game Genie?). This girthy setup doesn’t have any additional functionality and is only an aesthetic upgrade.

The SEGA Genesis Mini comes with 42 pre-loaded games and two wired controllers. You can get one for yourself on 19 September for $79.99.
