Micah Curtis’ superhero comic “Englewood” successfully funded on Indiegogo
On Wednesday, the Indiegogo campaign for Micah Curtis’ Englewood #1 successfully hit its funding goal with nearly two weeks left in the crowdfunding period. Englewood is a 32-page superhero tale written by Curtis and featuring artwork by Brian Martinez and colors by Armand Strange.
Here’s the pitch straight from Curtis, the “vanilla gorilla” himself:
Corruption and Chicago are two words that go hand in hand. So what happens when a disgraced MMA champion stands up to the cycle of crime in his hometown? Enter the Windy City with Elijah Wallace, former MMA heavyweight champion of the world, martial arts teacher, and masked vigilante known as “The Saint of Englewood.” Witness the origin of a man willing to challenge the murder capitol of the world, whose story shows how a hero is born in blood.
Backers can get a digital version of Englewood #1 for $5, while physical copies start at $10. If you’ve got more cash to spend, there are several upgrades you can pick up, including extra copies of the book, a pinup poster, t-shirt, and an expanded “director’s cut” edition with bonus art pages as well as a foreword by Curtis.
Congratulations to Curtis, Martinez, Strange, and the rest of the Englewood team. Interested? You can check out some sample artwork below or visit the full Englewood Indiegogo page here.
