People are already calling Microsoft’s new Xbox the “SeXBox”; is this another “Xboner” or marketing genius?

At the Video Game Awards on Thursday, Microsoft revealed their next-generation gaming console, the Xbox Series X. The hardware boasts a number of new and exciting features, including:

  • 12TF GPU
  • 4x CPU speed of Xbox One X
  • As quiet or quieter than Xbox One X
  • Dedicated share button on controller
  • Full backwards compatibility across 4 generations of Xbox games
  • The ability to pause/resume multiple games simultaneously

Perhaps the best feature, however, is the name itself: the Xbox Series X. Not content to have their current- gen console (the Xbox One, derp) nicknamed the “Xbone”, Microsoft’s marketing team has left themselves wide open for the Internet to have a field day with their latest offering. The result?

The “SeXbox.”

The nickname is already gaining traction on social media, and it looks like it could be here to stay.

This is either another embarrassing “Xboner” on the part of the Microsoft marketing team, or a brilliant tactic to keep people thinking about the new console.

Do you think Microsoft foresaw this turn of events? Will the SeXbox nickname stick? Would you Xbone the he out of a SeXbox? Let us know in the comments!
