PlatinumGames Announces “Project G.G.”
Japanese developer PlatinumGames has unveiled Project G.G., an all-new action IP described as “the powerful climax to the Hideki Kamiya superhero trilogy”. (Kamiya-San being the celebrated director of Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101).
In an interview with the Japanese publication Famitsu, Kamiya notes that Project G.G. is “Platinum challenging what [the company] hasn’t challenged before… If Viewtiful Joe is like a Kamen Rider transformation, [and] if Wonderful 101 is a squadron, Project G.G. is like a huge hero.” I don’t know about you, but I’m getting a bit of a “kaiju-monsters-meets-Iron Soldier” vibe from that comment, and that makes me quite warm in the pants.
According to Famitsu, PlatinumGames turned down an offer from TenCent (Chinese publisher and PlatinumGames partner) to publish Project G.G., as Platinum intends to self-publish the game, giving the developer full control of the game.
At the moment, no release date or platforms have been announced. However, PlatinumGames intends to launch Project G.G. on “all available platforms”, so it’s very possible that the game will eventually come to your platform of choice. You can watch the Project G.G. announcement trailer below.
