The IP Lawyers Known as “Atari” Reveal the “Mini Pong Jr.” Handheld

The small group of intellectual property lawyers who call themselves Atari has announced the Mini Pong Jr., a portable handheld version of the original Pong arcade game.

The Mini Pong Jr. features both competitive two-player and single-player modes, complete with ten different AI settings (sounds like difficulty levels to me).

Here’s the official announcement trailer for the Mini Pong Jr, followed by a statement by Atari CEO Fred Chesnais:

“Available soon online, the Atari Mini PONG Jr. is the perfect gift for Atari fans and collectors interested in experiencing the simple-yet-challenging gameplay of PONG in a tangible, more immersive way.”

Since modern “Atari” functionally has zero manufacturing capacity of its own, the Mini Pong Jr. machine is being made in collaboration with both UNIS and mini-console developer Arcade1Up. The machine is expected to launch sometime this holiday season.

To be honest, it actually looks kinda cool, and it very well may be a nice pickup if the price is right. Pong is still quite a bit of fun even after all these years.
