Joe Catapano’s Sci-Fi Comic “Star Circuit” Blends Akira with F-Zero

On Tuesday, independent comic book creator Joe Catapano launched a crowdfunding campaign for Star Circuit, a 32-page cyberpunk sci-fi book intended as the first installment of a larger miniseries.
Written and illustrated by Catapano and featuring lettering by the ever-prolific Eric Weathers, Star Circuit is inspired by Akira, F-Zero and Bladerunner.
Here’s the brief plot synopsis taken from the Star Circuit Indiegogo campaign page:
After all human attempts have ended in tragedy, one street-racer, Atlys Metric, is still convinced that with the help of a long-forgotten racing legend he can win in a championship full of unbeatable androids and save what’s left of his broken family.
Backers can get either a digital version or a physical copy (plus a poster print) of Star Circuit for $16. If you have more cash to spend, you can also pick up multiple copies of the book, original artwork, trading cards, a t-shirt, a banner print, and a variant cover by Caanan White. It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $10 for those in the United States.
The best part? The Star Circuit project is already fully funded, so now it’s time to focus on the stretch goals (and getting the fulfillment done).

I’ve been following this campaign for a few months. I backed it. Looking forward to seeing it become a reality.
