“Then Barnaby Met Six Figures…” Shane Davis’ “Starlight Cats” hits $100k on Indiegogo

Over the weekend, the crowdfunding campaign for sci-fi adventure comic Starlight Cats: Merlion Rising crossed the blessed “six figures, bitc young lady (kids’ book) threshold, raising more than $100k from over 1,300 backers. Now that the campaign has reached the six figures milestone, every backer will receive a bonus “hang in there, kitty” poster by Billy Bacsko. Keen.

But what is Starlight Cats? Co-created by Shane Davis (Superman: Earth One) and Yanzi Lin, Starlight Cats features a feline twist on the interstellar superhero tale. Here’s the official plot synopsis taken from the Starlight Cats Indiegogo campaign page:

Starlight Cats is an intergalactic action-adventure 48 pages graphic novel that chronicles the exploits of a little girl named Rebecca and the street cat Barnaby.

The vicious rat-like aliens known as the Verkins are bent on conquering Earth, and only Rebecca and an elite team of cosmic-powered cats known as the Starlight Cats stand between them and universal infestation.

Bummed that you missed out on the rally to $100k? Don’t fret. Starlight Cats is still in-demand on Indiegogo, so you can buy into the project for a limited time. There’s always the next rally to $200k, right?

Congratulations to Davis, Lin, and the rest of the Starlight Cats team. You can back Starlight Cats via Indiegogo here, or read more of our previous Starlight Cats coverage here.
