Konami Announces “Getsu Fūma Den: Undying Moon” for Switch, PC

During Nintendo’s recent Indie World showcase last week, Konami announced that they are planning to release a Getsu Fūma Den revival for both the Nintendo Switch and PC.

Titled Getsu Fūma Den: Undying Moon, the game is a revival of a little-known 1987 Famicom game that never saw a release on Western NES consoles.

The original 8-bit Getsu Fūma Den featured gameplay reminiscent of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, with an overworld map and side-scrolling 2-D action sequences where the hero battled monsters from Japanese mythology.

Undying Moon will be a modern refresher to the original, promising an aesthetic inspired by traditional Japanese Ukiyo-e artwork, huge boss battles, and gameplay that combines a “dynamic hack-and-slash roguelite experience filled with perilous dungeons, fierce boss battles and intense skill-based combat.”

Getsu Fūma Den: Undying Moon is scheduled to release sometime in 2022. You can check out the announcement trailer below.
