Mark Poulton’s Horror Fantasy “Viking Wolf” (Crowdfunding Spotlight)
Last week, independent comic book creator Mark Poulton launched a crowdfunding campaign for Viking Wolf, a 40-page horror fantasy graphic novel presented in an oversized, 8.5” x 11” format. It’s also well past funded, having already raised more than $12 thousand at the time of this writing.
Written by Poulton (Graveyard Shift) and featuring illustrations by Matt Dalton (Graveyard Shift: Ruiner) and Renzo Rodriguez (Impossible Stars), colors by Dexter Weeks (Herald: Tesla & Lovecraft) and letters by Eric Weathers (Battle Brick Road), Viking Wolf looks to combine European mythologies into an action-packed bloodbath that is absolutely intended for mature audiences.
Here’s the official plot synopsis taken from the Viking Wolf Indiegogo campaign page:
Viking Wolf is a horror fantasy that at its heart is the story of a son’s love for his father.
Prince Gunnar Rovewulf defends the Moonshire with the help of the Blood Hammer, the most powerful weapon in the universe that just so happens to be powered by the blood of it’s enemies. When his father is kidnapped by the evil Tollman, Prince Gunnar sets out to find him, but along the way unearths the truth behind the Blood Hammer and his father’s dealings with the Tollman. His quest takes him to Earth, where he is bonded with an unsuspecting and unwilling human, Travis.
Backers can get a copy of Viking Wolf (signed by Poulton and Dalton) for $25. For those with more cash to throw around, you can also pick up multiple copies of the book, a variant cover, a collector’s case, original artwork, and a Haunted Pizza “Yearbook” featuring pinup art from multiple Haunted Pizza creators. It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $10 for those in the United States.
