Retro Swashbuckling Adventure “Pirate Pete” Now on Switch, PS4 via the Arcade Archives

Hamster has announced that lesser-known 80s arcade platformer Pirate Pete is now available on PS4 and Nintendo Switch as part of the digital Arcade Archives series.

Originally released by Taito in 1982, Pirate Pete is described as a “thrilling, white knuckle adventure” that will take the titular Pete through caves, ship decks, and the ocean itself to save a lovely pirate lady in distress from a band of renegade pirates. And yes, there are sharks, too.

Like other Arcade Archives titles, players can post their high scores to the online leaderboards and change the various game settings to match their own personal skill levels and taste.

Arcade Archives Pirate Pete is available today for $7.99 via PSN and the Nintendo Switch eShop. It’s rated “Y” for “Yar!”* You can check out some screenshots below, or visit the official Hamster website here.

*I may be legally obligated to point out that it’s actually rated “E” for Everyone.
