“Cotton Reboot!” Releasing 20 July for Nintendo Switch, PS4
On Thursday, ININ Games announced that Cotton Reboot! will be released both digitally and physically on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch on 20 July in Europe, North America and Australasia (It’s been available in Japan since February).
Developed by BEEP, Cotton Reboot! is a reimagining of the 2-D shoot-em-up originally released in arcades and later on the TurboGraphx CD and the X68000.
For those out of the know, the original Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams was the first of a multi-game franchise starring a young witch who flys on her broomstick and blasts monsters with magical bolts, all in a quest to retrieve her precious, stolen Willow candy. Must be some tasty candy.
This “Reboot!” version includes all of the improvements from the X68000 release of Cotton, while also allowing players to experience the main game in either its original form or a new “Arrange Mode” which takes advantage of modern hardware platforms to produce new, hand-drawn HD graphics and a remixed soundtrack. In “score attack” mode, you can compete with other players using online scoreboards using either a 2 minute or 5 minute time limit.
ININ Games also took the lid off of the three Limited Edition physical versions, which is being released in cooperation with Strictly Limited Games.
- The Limited Edition comes with a manual and is available for €39.99 (approximately $48) and limited to 3.000 copies for Nintendo Switch and 1.500 copies for PS4 worldwide.
