“Arcade Archives Raiden” Available Today for Nintendo Switch and PS4
Hamster has announced that Raiden, the classic arcade shoot-em-up (or as we called it back in its day, a “shooter”), is available today (1 July) on PS4 and Nintendo Switch as part of the digital Arcade Archives series.
Originally released by Seibu Kaihatsu in 1990, Raiden was the first game in the long-standing sci-fi shooter franchise. It was ported to a number of consoles, including the SEGA Genesis, Atari Jaguar, and more.
In Raiden, 1-2 players can simultaneously take flight in the “ultra high-altitude fighter-bomber” (the titular Raiden fighter) and combat waves of alien invaders across a number of vertically scrolling stages.
Like other Arcade Archives titles, players can post their high scores to the online leaderboards and change various game settings to match their own personal skill levels and taste.
Arcade Archives Raiden is available today for $7.99 via PSN and the Nintendo Switch eShop. You can check out some screenshots below, or visit the official Hamster website here.
